Mirror: (Sur)Real Reflections (2)

Final version of a painting that I made during the portrait & model class for an upcoming group exhibition with the theme "Mirror", not based on life drawing and painting, but on a figure/subject of one's own choice from a photo. I chose a photo of a (multiple) reflection of myself in the window of the museum shop of the Magritte Museum in Brussels. After doing a few colour studies as described in a previous post I started on the painting and this is the result just before I had to submit. Acrylic on canvas (70 x 90 cm) with a copy of the original photo pasted in.

Queen Elizabeth II

Quick sketch of Queen Elizabeth II from a photo I came across on the internet for an exhibition at West Ox Arts Gallery in Oxford (UK). Artists were invited to submit portraits of the Queen in the context her upcoming Diamond Jubilee. Although I'm not a monarchist, I enjoyed participating in this portrait event and seeing the entries of other portraitists. Wax pastel on grained paper (21 x 21 cm). Waspastels.
